Ashok Leyland Celebrates 75th Anniversary With Epic 4000km Drive In Stallion Trucks From Kanyakumari to Leh

Named the 'Manzil ka Safar' Stallion Drive, this expedition has also been organised as a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.
As part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations, Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group, commenced the 4000km ‘Manzil Ka Safar’ Stallion Drive from Kanyakumari to Leh on July 26, 2023. The drive was strategically launched on Kargil Vijay Diwas as a special tribute to mark the brand’s long-standing association with the Indian Armed Forces.
This incredible expedition will take the vehicles across cities and challenging terrains, covering the beautiful regions of Leh. Ashok Leyland’s MD and CEO Shenu Agarwal said that the Stallion Drive from Kanyakumari to Leh embodies the company’s commitment to the Indian Army.

Details About Stallion Trucks:
During the drive, the company will also be showcasing many vehicles which encapsulate the spirit of Ashok Leyland's journey. Particularly, three Stallion trucks will be displayed which represent the three terrains that the Stallion has successfully taken on for the Indian Army- forests, deserts, and mountains, as they travel over Indian roadways.
The first truck will highlight the long-standing relationship between Ashok Leyland and the Army over the years. The second truck will pay tribute to the Kargil veterans and the third truck will salute the army’s brave hearts and showcase prestigious honours which are bestowed upon Indian Army personnel to recognise the exceptional bravery and sacrifices.
As for the vehicle, it forms the logistical backbone of the Indian Armed Forces, with over 75,000 Stallions used by the Indian Army. In the Kargil War of 1999, Stallion played a crucial role, by carrying battalions of troops to the frontline reliably. Furthermore, it transported the frontline with the essential supplies of ammunition and food.

Ashok Leyland Stallion Hawk 4x4 was built for military use and it displayed unmatched strength not only on paved roads but also on challenging off-road terrain. Equipped with a HA57L165/6 model BSlll-complaint engine, this truck delivers a staggering 221.2hp at 2500rpm and 800Nm at around 1400-1900rpm.
The truck also came with 14.00x20 22PR MRF high-strength tyres which can handle the beating on rough terrain. The vehicle also came with 250 litres fuel tank capacity for the longest operational performance and could reach top speeds of up to 95kmph. Apart from this, the truck has a gross vehicle weight rating of 12460kg.
