Ashok Leyland reports good growth in its Q1 report

The nation's premium truck maker Ashok Leyland has reported a net profit of 159.31 crore for the quarter that ended on June 30, 2015. This figure is accounted to a strong sales performance for the company. This is a significant boost for the company, which had posted a net loss of 47.95 crore for the same period in the previous fiscal year.
The brand's total income from operations also saw a growth, from 2477.80 crore for the period in the last year to 3841.21 crore.
The company's executives remarked on the positive sales response.
“The growth in market share is a reflection of our focus on profitability of our customers, and our channel partners.” said the company's managing director, Vinod K Dasari. “Further, our investments in many new products and continued strict discipline on costs have helped boost results.”
The entire industry saw a rise in volumes of 23 percent. However, Ashok Leyland outperformed its competitors, along with the entire sector, with a growth of 45 per cent in medium and heavy commercial vehicles, according to the company.
Ashok Leyland is currently the second largest commercial vehicles brand in India, along with the fourth largest bus maker and 16th largest truck maker in the global scale. Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, this company's truck range covers heavy, medium and light duty ranges.
