Ashok Leyland's Boss to be assembled in UAE
Published On Jun 18, 2015
Ashok Leyland is the nation's premier commercial vehicle makers. It is the second largest producer of commercial vehicles for India, and the 16th largest truck maker in the entire world. It commands a strong 28% share of the commercial vehicle market, with a celebrated line up of trucks. One of the models from this range is the Boss, which is a transport truck used for carrying goods. The company had recently declared that the model will be assembled in its plant in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. This is done for the purpose of tailoring the truck's making so that it caters to the requirements of the middle east. This announcement was made during the company's annual press conference, where it discussed its annual report.
Ashok Leyland confirmed that the truck would be put together with CKD kits sent from India, and this process was to begin in 2015. Since its launch in October, 2013, around 1000 units of the truck have been rolled out, and it has since found huge appeal in the foreign markets. It comes with a redesigned cabin that greatly resembles those seen in Avia trucks of Europe. As for the Boss, it comes with a specific demand that reaches to other countries as well, and the company is structuring the models' production to suit its needs. The boss was released with three differing GVWs, a 9.6 tons version, a 12 ton version and 13 ton version. Each of these is available in two variants, both of which are powered by the same engine for varying power.
