Ashok Leyland's Dost crosses 1 lakh sales point

Ashok Leyland reported that Dost, its popular model from the small commercial vehicles range, had crossed one lakh in sales. The Dost is a product of Ashok Leyland's joint venture with Nissan motors, which came to place in 2007. The aim of this joint venture was to promote both companies' interests in the commercial vehicles' realm, and to tap into potential growth sectors in the CV field.


“Dost fulfills an important gap in our portfolio and 100,000 DOST Vehicles on-road, across 11 countries is proof of good product design, solid engineering and strong market acceptance,” commented Ashok Leyland's managing director Vinod K Dasari. As a commemoration of having sold one lakh units, the company is planning to launch a new variant of the model. This new variant, the Dost High Side Deck variant is meant to help customers avail benefits of a higher loan amount.

“Dost has fulfilled its promise of increased payload, improved fuel efficiency, class leading performance, comfort and safety and can be experienced at 350 exclusive and modern outlets across the country,” said the company's president for the light commercial vehicle unit, Nitin Seth.

Ashok Leyland is a recognised CV maker, is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is the second largest maker of commercial vehicles in India, the fourth largest bus maker globally and the 16th largest manufacturer of trucks globally.

The brand rolls out a whopping 60 000 vehicles annually. It company operates with eight state of the art manufacturing plants. Out of these, six of them are localised here in India, while one exists in United Arab Emirates and another one is in the United Kingdom.
