Kinetic Group To Produce Range-X Batteries For Electric 3-Wheelers At New Ahmednagar Facility

With an annual production capacity of 60,000 battery packs, Kinetic Group announced the completion of its battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The facility complies with industry standards such as AIS 156 and AIS 004 and has automated production lines with IoT-enabled technologies and stage-wise inspections. To position itself to serve India's expanding EV market, which is expected to reach US$ 18.319 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 28.52%, the company plans to supply batteries to OEMs outside the Kinetic Group.

Details About Range X Batteries Of Kinetic Group
The Rs. 50 crore plant will manufacture both Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) variants of the Range-X branded batteries for electric three-wheelers and two-wheelers. Thermal runaway protection and intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) integration are features built into the Range-X LFP batteries. According to the company, recyclable materials are used in the manufacturing of batteries. Additionally, NMC batteries with an emphasis on high energy density and charge-discharge rates will be produced at the facility.

Speaking at the inaugural event of the new manufacturing plant, Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Kinetic Group, said, “The newly developed facility at Ahmednagar represents their commitment to self-reliance and sustainability in battery technology. The company is working on localising the BMS development under the government's PLI (Production Linked Incentive) schemes and Make in India initiative.”
Significance Of Indigenous Battery Manufacturing
As India strives for more domestic manufacturing capacity in the electric vehicle supply chain, it has expanded into the production of EV batteries. To lessen reliance on imports and create a strong domestic EV ecosystem, the government has put in place many programs, such as production-linked incentive schemes.
