Lohia Auto Launches Several Vehicles at Auto Expo 2016
Published On Mar 11, 2016
The Auto Expo 2016 witnessed the launch of many commercial vehicles. Even the relatively lesser known companies like JBM and Lohia Auto outshone in the expo with innovative and futuristic products. While JBM is striving its luck in bus segment, Lohia has entered into light commercial vehicle segment with its passenger and cargo 3-wheeler vehicles. Alongside these, the company has also launched Oma Star two-wheeler series. With these vehicles, Lohia is trying to make an impact on the still recovering commercial vehicle market in India.
Talking about the products, Lohia has arrived in the market with both diesel and electric options for its 3-wheelers named as Humrahi, Narain, and petrol and CNG version of Humsafar. While Lohia Humsafar Cargo is powered by a 436 cc diesel engine and is able to churn out 7.5 bhp power and 18 Nm torque, Narain and Humrahi are the 48 V electric powered ones. Detailing the load capacities, Lohia has done well with the e-cargo vehicle as Narain and Humrahi could lift up to 350 kg and 390 kg respectively while offering potential run of near about 70-90 km in a single charge. On the other hand, Lohia Humsafar Cargo can carry load up to 560 kg with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 950 kg.
There, however, is no doubt that Lohia Auto's new forays, especially the petrol and CNG fuel versions of the Lohia Humsafar Cargo has a long run to cover before it catches up with three-wheeler market leaders like Piaggio and Atul, but the e-cargo vehicle could boost up its chances in the city-centric commercial vehicle market where the load and mileage hold significant importance. The same goes with its two wheelers and passenger vehicles which also have a long battle before them before getting recognized as a valuable brand name in the Indian market.
