Maruti Super Carry BS6 Petrol- Explained

The Super Carry has carved a niche for itself in the fiercely competitive mini-truck market dominated by formidable rivals. The Super Carry now available in BS6 petrol variants, and we delve into this popular truck.

The transition to BS6 emission earlier this month has paved the way for the introduction of more stringent trucks in India. The new BS6 powertrain trucks are undoubtedly the most efficient ones running on the cleanest fuel.

This also suggests that truck makers are now introducing their BS6 range across segment and model families. The COVID-19 situation has disrupted the complete product launch and manufacturing schedule of automotive companies. Yet, some of the OEMs are introducing their BS6 models.   

The mini-truck Supper Carry is such products, from India’s largest car maker’s, is now available in BS6 petrol variant. This single commercial vehicle product from Maruti Suzuki has been able to create a sizable loyal customer base in the last-mile cargo delivery segment in India. This segment has two formidable players-Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) with compelling products with a strong grip on the market. Yet, Super Carry has successfully established itself with some of its key USPs of its practicality and excellent performance.

Also, this transition to more stringent emission norms makes the diesel engine vehicle a little expensive than their petrol counterparts, especially the lower power ones. Therefore, petrol powertrain becomes a realistic option even for the cargo segment, and thus OEMs are introducing petrol variants in the popular segments.  Tata Motors also showcased BS6 petrol variant of its popular Ace Gold in the Auto Expo 2020.

The Super Carry combines the critical elements of the robust engine, superior mileage, fitting stability and handling along with greater safety and comfort for the driver. In its BS4 avatar, the Super Carry was available in diesel, petrol and CNG variants.

BS6 Model Petrol

Maruti Suzuki now made introduces the BS6 petrol variant of the Super Carry. The diesel and CNG BS6 variants are likely to follow soon, and we will be the first to let you know that, once they are available. But first, let’s look at what the BS6 petrol version has on offer.

The BS6 petrol variant gets the multi-point fuel injection G12B BS6, 1196 CC, 4-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 54 Kw (72HP) at 6000 rpm, the maximum torque is 98 Nm. The BS6 petrol gets petty high power than its predecessors, which aimed for faster delivery and carrying more cargo.

The BS6 Petrol variant of Super Carry not only maintains the key characteristics of its BS4 version but also comes with some of the striking features targeted at customer benefits. This truck now gets large and stable deck, bigger tyre and higher ground clearance.

Furthermore, the firm has also now offered a comfortable cabin to the driver with easy handling, practical features, and a more modern cabin for higher productivity. This 740 kg payload mini truck comes with a petrol fuel tank of 30 litre with a manual steering system. The new Super Carry is available in two colour- silky silver and solid white.

Massive Equipment

-The BS6 petrol Super Carry is loaded with equipment-both interior & exterior and comes with long list of safety features.
-The Exterior list includes tailgate opening function with handle, tailgate chain, front wiper with washer, spare tyre, mud flap, rear fender among other.
-The interior features for comfort, convenience and utility include main cabin lights, driver side sun visor, driver side pocket, sliding back window, assist grip, bottle holder, instrument panel upper tray, 12V accessory socket, floor carpet, sliding driver seat, 3-spoke steering wheel.


-The extensive safety list includes retractable seat belts, locking glove box, handlamp levelling, steering lock, reflective tape (front and rear), warning tangle, hazard lamp, front disc brake, stepney lock provision, battery lock provision, rear parking sensor system and seat belt reminder for driver and co-driver.
-This compact mini-truck from Maruti Suzuki seems to tick all the right boxes both in performance, comfort, safety and feature list. The new BS6 petrol Super Carry gets even better than its earlier version and customer would likely appreciate it.
