Maruti Suzuki Super Carry S-CNG: Features explored

The mini-trucks now comes in BS6 CNG powertrain equipped with a host of features and long equipment list, making it a compelling urban last-mile cargo delivery truck.
India’s largest passenger vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki last week launched a new CNG variant of its popular mini-truck Super Carry in BS6 powertrain. The S-CNG variant complements the existing petrol variant already available for retail sale.
The last-mile mini truck market is highly competitive with two strong brands present in the segment: The Tata Motors Ace range and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Jeeto. The Super Carry has emerged as a strong brand in this segment gaining sizable market share year-on-year since launch.
Apart from the strong brand and highly efficient truck, multiple variants in this segment are critical for boosting greater sales and market share for the OEMs. Before the new emission norms came into practice, the Super Carry was available in diesel, petrol and CNG variants, the firm has already launched the petrol variant in BS6, and now the latest CNG variant expands its offering in BS6 trucks range.
S-CNG Variant
This all-new CNG variant of Super Carry launched at Rs 507,000 is the first 4-cylinder powered mini-truck commercial vehicle that delivers 48KW@6000rpm of power and 85NM@3000rpm of torque ensuring smooth pickup. Super Carry is the only LCV in the country with a dual fuel S-CNG variant with a 5L Petrol tank, for on-road assurance.
The compact truck conceptualized for small commercial vehicle segment users, Super Carry offers best-in-segment power, enhanced comfort, superior quality, and versatile deck. According to the company, the bi-fuel S-CNG variant has been accepted well in the SCV market and already contributes around 8% to the Super Carry sales. The introduction of the competitively priced BS6 compliant S-CNG variant coupled with the Government’s renewed focus on CNG fuel availability will further strengthen the Super Carry brand.
Key Features
The S-CNG gets a powerful engine with 65 HP of power with impressive mileage and pickup, the cargo load body is a fairly large and overall stable truck to carry even full loads of cargo effortlessly even in the congested road or steep climb on the flyovers.
The overall handling of the vehicle is smoother, with a comfortable roomy cabin for short and even longer trips, with adequate comfort, convenience, and functional utilities for the driver to spend time in the cabin. The seating capacity is Driver+1 and it also gets a 5-liter petrol tank as assurance. Safety is another focus area for this truck with a host of features to make both the driver and vehicle protective.

Super Carry is a last-mile delivery vehicle deployed in urban transportation needs. The key attributes of performance, productivity, and functional are characteristics every truck owner wants in this segment. OEMs work around these customer requirements, and the truck is used extensively for earning money for the owner and therefore convenient equipments are necessary.
