Scania targets construction and mining segments in India

The company committed to the Indian truck market launched the new truck generation heavy-duty trucks in 2019, which are well accepted by the customers. Bullish on growth in the Indian market, Scania focuses on the premium truck market for niche applications including mining and construction in India.
Scania Commercial Vehicles India, the wholly-owned subsidiary global truck maker Scania is targeting the construction and mining truck segment in India. The company operates in the niche premium heavy-duty truck segment in India is expanding its brand promise to customers operating in the infrastructure segments.
Trucks and Tippers used in the infrastructure segment, including applications such as mining and road construction, are the most expensive, often used in highly demanding operating conditions. The customers using such trucks demand vehicles that are not only most modern but durable and highly competitive. Such trucks are price higher, however, customers do not just focus on the price but the total cost of ownership with the close support of the OEM. Scania promises total support to its Indian customers with round the clock spare parts availability and on-site service support for efficiently utilisation of its trucks.
Scania India Commercial Vehicles is steadily making inroads in this premium truck segment in India. The company displayed its range of New Truck Generation (NTG) heavy tipper, parts and service solutions along with BS-IV CEV ready industrial engines, at EXCON 2019, the largest mining and construction equipment event in South Asia, held at Bengaluru. The BS-IV CEV available industrial engines globally acknowledged for reliability, efficiency, and environmental performance. Scania is participating jointly with partners L&T, an association that strengthens the brand’s delivery service network across the country.
Tailor-made solutions that enhance customer profitability, has been the key focus for Scania and through the platform that EXCON provides, the company is reinforcing its position as a holistic solutions provider. With displays of Scania genuine parts, driver coaching, fleet management service, and Industrial and Recon engines, customers can experience the entire suite of solutions on offer.

Bullish on India
Scania is bullish on the Indian market in 2020. The company is the leader of Euro-VI since 2011 in Europe and, using that expertise, and ready for BS-VI engines in India. Globally, Scania has been working towards developing more significant levels of sustainability, focusing on energy efficiency, autonomous vehicles, alternative fuels and electrification, and smart and safe transport, utilizing increasing levels of digital services to provide higher uptime and vehicle utilization for both customer profitability and eco-friendly solutions.
Through its SAMPARK initiative, Scania has introduced the NTG heavy Tipper and solutions in 3 key mining hubs, Kareemnagar in the South, Nagpur in Central and Singrauli in the North, piquing the interest of the mining community with its best-in-class features and offerings.
Scania started India operations in India in 2007 with a partnership with Larsen & Toubro. In 2011, the company established an automobile manufacturing facility at Narasapura in Karnataka to cater to the requirements of the India market. To further strengthen its India presence and achieve total operational efficiency, Scania launched a state-of-the-art Central Parts warehouse in Nagpur in March 2019.
