SIAM 3-Wheeler Sales Report November 2024: Production Vs Sales Analysis

SIAM released the 3-wheeler production and sales figures for November 2024, showing 76,997 units of production, 59,350 units of domestic sales, and 23,439 units of exports.

In November of this year, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) published its segment-by-segment monthly vehicle sales report, emphasising the comparison of exports, domestic sales, and production. Sales and manufacturing data for sub-segments such as passenger carriers, goods carriers, e-rickshaws, and e-carts are also disclosed within the 3-wheeler segment.
The segment had a 5.5% drop in production after 76,997 units were manufactured in November 2024 compared to 81,517 units in November 2023, according to SIAM's November 2024 3-wheeler data. In November of this year, the Indian 3-wheeler industry sold 59,350 units, down 1.3% from 60,143 units in the same month the previous year.

3-Wheeler Passenger Carrier Sales In November 2024
In terms of production and sales, the passenger carrier including the auto-rickshaw sub-segment is the largest contributor to the 3-wheeler market as a whole. A total of 65,271 units were produced in the last month of this year under this sub-segment, representing a 4% decrease in production when compared to the 68,020 units produced in November of last year.
The sub-segment saw a 0.6% decline in domestic passenger carrier auto-rickshaw sales after selling 47,725 units in November 2024 as opposed to 48,007 units in November 2023. By shipping 23,148 units in November 2024 as opposed to 25,686 units in November 2023, the sub-segment's export performance decreased by 9.9%.
3-Wheeler Goods Carrier Sales In November 2024
The second-largest contributor to the growth in 3-wheeler manufacturing and sales is the Goods Carrier subsegment. When compared to the 10,268 units produced in the same month previous year, the 9,657 units manufactured in November 2024 represented a 6% decrease.
The 3-wheeler goods carrier saw domestic sales of 9,809 units in India in November 2024, up 5.7% from 9,281 units sold in the same month the previous year. However, by exporting only 291 units in November 2024 as opposed to 460 units in November 2023, the export market saw a notable 36.7% reduction in sales in this sub-segment.
3-Wheeler E-Rickshaw Sales In November 2024
The e-rickshaw industry reported a 42.1% decrease in production over the past month, with 1,703 units manufactured as opposed to 2,942 units in November 2023. In a similar vein, domestic e-rickshaw sales fell 40.4% in November 2024 after selling 1,527 units as opposed to 2,563 units in the same month the previous year.
3-Wheeler E-Cart Sales In November 2024
The battery-operated e-cart sub-segment, which contributes the least to the 3-wheeler industry, increased production by 27.5% from 287 units in November 2023 to 366 units in November 2024. In comparison to the 292 e-carts sold in India in November 2023, the e-cart industry had a 1% decline in domestic sales in November this year, selling 289 units.
Bottomline: 3-Wheeler Export In November 2024
Both passenger carriers and goods carriers serve the export market, according to sales and production figures for the 3-wheeler segment from November 2024. Three-wheelers accounted for 10.4% of the decline in exports in November 2024, with 23,439 units exported overall, down from 26,146 units in November 2023. Thus, compared to the 76,997 units manufactured in November 2024, 82,789 units were sold and exported.
