Tata Ace Gold Remains The Most Popular Mini-Truck in India

Tata Ace Gold also known as ‘Chota Hathi’ is synonymous with compact trucks in India with a legendary status in the market, retains the top spot at the sales chart in the entry-level/mini-truck category even as rivals like Mahindra Jeeto and Maruti Super Carry make significant inroads this key truck category.
In the first six months (April-September 2022) of the fiscal year 2023, India’s mini-truck (less than 2-tonne GVW) registered a total sale of 99,397 units. The Ace Gold sold 58,280 units translating into a market share of 58%, followed by the Jeeto 21,608 units and Super Carry 19, 509 units, with 21.7% and 19.6%, respectively, in the same period.

With more than half of the market share in the category, Ace Gold undoubtedly remains the first choice of customers. The Ace Gold with its affordable price, lower cost of maintenance, and reliable performance along with high premium in the used truck seem unbeatable from the top spot.
The less than 2-tonne payload truck in the small commercial vehicle segment emerged as the second largest volume category after the pickups. Also, known as mini-trucks, they often find applications in diverse needs in the last-mile cargo/delivery to reach the end customers' doorsteps. The profile of customers includes first-time truck buyers, transport entrepreneurs, and logistics/transport firms that find these trucks highly useful.
All the top trucks in the category, the Ace Gold, Jeeto, and Super Carry are available in multiple fuel options, cargo bodies, and top features with a comfortable cabin. Highly affordable, mini-trucks are a vital element in India’s last-mile cargo delivery market with efficient and robust performance characteristics.
