One of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturers in India, Tata Motors, published its monthly sales report for December 2024. The sales performance of passenger carriers, pickups, heavy-duty trucks, small commercial vehicles, and intermediate light and medium commercial vehicles (ILMCVs) in both domestic and foreign markets is covered in this report.

The similar sales report also showcased the sales figures of its commercial vehicles in the third quarter of the financial year 2025 (Q3 FY25). Considering both domestic sales and exports, Tata Commercial Vehicles sold 33,875 units in December 2024 compared to 34,180 units in December 2023, resulting in a 1% YoY (year over year) drop in domestic sales.

Tata Trucks Sales Report December 2024

Tata Motors' December 2024 commercial vehicle sales report states that the company sold 9,520 heavy-duty trucks in the domestic market in December 2024, down 15% YoY from 11,199 units in the same month the year before. The company sold 4,144 passenger carriers in December 2024, a 35% YoY increase over the 3,060 passenger carriers it supplied in December 2023.

With 5,687 sold in December of this year compared to 5,675 in December 2023, the company's domestic sales of ILMCV trucks showed a similar sales pattern. With 13,018 SCV Cargo and Pickups sold in December 2024 compared to 12,734 in December 2023, Tata Motors recorded a 2% YoY increase in domestic sales.

Domestic sales of MH&ICV, which includes trucks and buses, decreased from 16,851 units in December 2023 to 15,968 units in December 2024. Domestic and foreign sales of the brand's MH&ICVs decreased from 17,591 units in December 2023 to 16,604 units in December 2024.

Tata Trucks Sales Report For Q3 FY25

The company sold 27,130 units of HCV trucks, 15,897 units of ILMCV trucks, 10,001 units of passenger carriers, and 38,232 units of SCV cargo and pickups in the third quarter of the current financial year, reflecting a 9% YoY drop, 3% YoY growth, 30% YoY growth, 2% YoY drop respectively.

In total, Tata Motors sold 95,770 units of commercial vehicles during the third quarter of the financial year 2025 compared to 96,526 units in Q3 FY24, showing a 1% sales decline. 

Tata Commercial Vehicles Domestic Sales In December 2024

When considering exclusively domestic truck sales, Tata Motors saw a 1% YoY sales drop in December 2024, selling 32,369 units as opposed to 32,668 units in the same month the previous year. In Q3 FY25, the company sold 91,260 units in the Indian market compared to 91,735 units in Q3 FY24, reflecting a similar 1% YoY sales drop.
