Sept 24, 2019: The SCANIA G410 is a good quality truck that has a lot of quality features. It comes with a trailer body along with a sleeper cabin. The truck is built on a wheelbase of 3,950 mm. The gross vehicle weight of the truck is 49,000 Kg that includes a payload capacity of 39,706 Kg.

Under the hood, there is a 12.7-litre Scania DC13 107, DI Turbocharged Intercooled, electronically managed retarder engine that can make a maximum power of 410 bhp coming at 1900 rpm, while the peak torque is 2000 Nm at 1100-1350 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 14-speed manual gearbox.

Overview

The Swedish company Scania has launched a series of truck in India, which is not only best-in-class in performance, design and engine technology, but in exteriors and interiors as well. This G-Series G410 truck is also one of the most famous trucks among the buyers from all over the country. The truck has immense engine power, very comfortable design, next-gen exteriors and many more features, which make the long journeys strain-free and get them completed over low maintenance cost.

It has been powered by the company 13 Litre diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler and can produce a maximum power of 410 bhp and mind-blowing torque of 2000 Nm. There also is an in-built engine retarder to electronically manage system for controlling the drive and performance of the truck.

The truck also has been paired with 14-speed semi-automatic gearbox transmission system to provide smoother driving experience. With parabolic leaf spring suspension system and heavy-duty 6x2 axle configuration the truck goes well on bumpy roads even when loaded to its full capacity. Engine and Performance

Scania has powered G410 truck with the company's D13107 12700cc 6-cylinder in-line diesel engine equipped with turbocharger and intecooler. The turbo and intercooler are electronically managed with an in-built retarder meant to deliver economic and power packed performance on all terrains with utmost load. It could easily belt out 410 bhp power @ 1,900 rpm and massive 2,000 Nm torque @ 1100-1350 rpm.

Detailing more about its performance, mated with 14-speed semi-automatic transmission system, it could hit the maximum speed of 100 km/h with gradeability of 18%. It also has been bestowed with single plate dry friction clutch of diameter 432 mm.

Load Carrying Capacity and Applications

The G410 truck has specially been developed for making long trips easy with heavy loads. The kerb weight of this vehicle is about 9,294 kg, which I guess is not much, but with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 49,000 kg, it could be stuffed with nearly 40,000 kg of goods. Additionally, it can be attached to the 3-axle semi-trailer for carrying more weight.

Talking about the applications, well, there are many. Although, the major application for which the company has introduced this truck is for carrying containers and delivering all types of construction material. Apart from these, the transporter could use the truck, according to his nature of business.

Braking, Suspension and Handling

Scania G410 truck has been equipped with Air Brakes, which I guess needed to be improved. Although, the Antilock Braking System (ABS) and separate parking brakes are available to compensate the downside. The brakes would be working on same size 11.00R20 front and rear tyres with turning radius of 7358 mm.

Coming to the suspension, there is a Parabolic Leaf Spring suspension in front and Air suspension at the rear. Apart from this, the Forger “I” beam reverse Elliot Type front axle with Single Reduction Hypoid Gear first rear axle and Tag Lift secondary rear axle also support the truck in moving around on bumpy roads although with comparatively low ground clearance of 206 mm.

Power Steering is available for offering all the assistance a driver requires to complete the journey effortlessly. The steering could also be adjusted according to the driver's requirement and hence making it easier to drive from variable driving positions.

Exteriors and Interiors

The truck is designed aerodynamically with good aesthetic features to lure the potential customers. Mentioning the dimensions, it is 6911 mm long, 2550 mm wide, 3104 mm high with the wheelbase of decent 3950 mm length. The other exterior features include a finely designed G Cab cabin, easy to climb space and radiator designed for proper air inlet with required lights as well.

Inside, being a sleeper cabin, it has lots of space for driver and co-passenger along with all the required instruments on the dashboard. Also, the company has made it completely air-conditioned along with a driver information display equipped with the required meters and controls.
