Tata Ultra T.16 AMT

April 15, 2020: Tata Ultra T.16 AMT BS6 is Tata’s offering under the lightweight segment. The vehicle gets an updated BSVI engine offering with features like improved fuel economy, Automatic Transmission, Air Brakes, and Power Steering. The robust design feature enables the truck to carry a 5.0L fuel tank besides its 230mm ground clearance. 

Powering the Tata Ultra T.16 AMT BS6 is a six-cylinder 5000cc displacement engine which generates a maximum power output of 177 hp besides producing Max Power, monitored by a six-speed gearbox.  

Overview

The Tata Ultra T.16 AMT BS6 is well known as the first 10T truck manufactured by Tata Motors, which comes with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The truck is specially designed and constructed in such a way that it can easily offer a payload of 10T along with a high-class performance. The Tata Ultra T.16 AMT BS6 appears with a gross vehicle weight of 16,190kg and is developed to offer a payload of 10T. The company has given a new-generation 45-degree tiltable sleeper type cabin with appealing, futuristic styling & aerodynamic design which ensures the comfort and fulfillment of every need of the driver and his co-passengers. The available deck lengths for the truck are 20ft, 24ft, and 32ft. According to the length of the decks, the wheelbase length is also different for the three variants, which are 4920mm, 5600mm and 6800mm respectively. However, the turning dia is the same as 23000 mm for all the options, and the provided ground clearance is measured as 228mm. Along with this, a fuel tank of 250 L capacity is attached to the vehicle. 

Interior

The vehicle arrives with an aesthetically designed sleeper cabin with elegant looks and a six-way adjustable driver seat. The cabin is fully heat and noise insulated which enhances comfort. An integrated hydraulic power steering is there within the cabin, which ensures the stability of the truck even at high-speed or rough terrains. Performance

An NG 5.0 Lit Turbotrron DICR BSIV diesel engine controls all the high-class performance of the truck. The powerful engine is designed to generate a maximum power of 180 hp at 2400 rpm and the maximum torque of 590 Nm at 1000-2000 rpm. The Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) duty is operated with a GBS 750 Synchromesh 6 Forward & 1 Reverse gearbox along with a single plate dry friction type clutch of 352 mm dia. 

Safety

The Tata Ultra T.16 AMT BS6 is equipped with all the required safety gears. A dual-circuit full air S-Cam brake supported by auxiliary exhaust brake acts as the primary brake of the truck. Along with this, the presence of ABS (anti-lock braking system) also confirms the safe and secure delivery of goods and commodities. Additionally, there is a parking brake which helps to keep the truck steady while loading and unloading are being done. Seat belts are also there to provide better protection. However, the high-class suspensions also play an essential role to transfer the loads equally to all the wheels and offer better stability.
