Being one of the pioneers in electric commercial vehicles in India, EKA Mobility has entered into the electric truck segment by introducing its 7-tonne gross vehicle weight (GVW) electric truck prototype named EKA 7T at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The EKA 7T is a smart and sustainable mid-range cargo mobility solution which has the potential to redefine mid-range logistics.

With a payload capacity of 3,500 kg, the EKA 7T is an ideal commercial electric vehicle built to handle demanding transport needs. Incorporated with a cargo container of 3200 mm in length, 2005 mm in width, and 1380 mm in height, this model provides a volumetric capacity of 312 cubic feet. The brand has a plan to launch this model at the end of this year.

What We Know So Far?

The EKA 7T prototype displayed at the Auto Expo 2025 is an electric truck with a GVW of 6,950 kg. It has a 4x2 configuration with 4 wheels and a wheelbase of 3320 mm to maintain stability on the road. This electric truck is powered by a 129 kWh lithium ferro phosphate battery pack and permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM).

Its battery delivers a range of up to 200 km and takes a charging time of 3 hours using a single gun 120 kW fast charger. This model generates 268.2 hp of peak power and 1800 Nm of peak torque. With a ground clearance of 260 mm, this electric truck can traverse uneven roads effortlessly. It can attain a maximum speed of 80 kmph to reduce the turnaround time.

Besides the above specifications, the EKA 7T truck highlights the following other specifications: 

  • Boasting a gradeability of 22 percent, it is capable of moving cargo material over steep inclines and ghat roads.
  • This electric truck is outfitted with tyres of size 8.25x16 LT 16PR.
  • It has a seating capacity of 2 co-drivers and a driver.
  • For efficient stopping power, this e-truck has drum brakes at the back and disc brakes up front.
  • It includes some safety features including a short-circuit protection (SCP) and over-temperature protection (OTP) system to shut down a power supply when it gets too hot.
