Furio 16 Latest Update
Mahindra Furio 16 is a 6-tyre intermediate commercial vehicle in the Furio lineup from Mahindra, designed by world-class design vertical – Pininfarina. Equipped with a robust 3.5-litre mDi Tech engine with ‘FuelSmart’ technology – a powertrain tech aimed at fuel enhancement, the Furio 16 is crafted to deliver efficient performance required by logistics.
Outfitted with a cabin that meets the AIS 029 crash norms, Mahindra asserts that the Furio 16 is the safest in its class. AIS 029 refers to the Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) 029, which are crash norms or safety regulations established by the Indian government. Further, the vehicle is fitted with a 10-bar air brake system to ensure highest safety standards.
To ensure rigidity and durability, the Mahindra truck is also equipped with a high-strength low alloy (HSLA 550) material-based chassis and an anti-roll bar for stability. Then there’s the metallic bumper, stronger design front under-run protection device and fenders to protect the main body of the truck and also act as reinforcements in case of a collision.
HSLA 550 refers to High-Strength Low-Alloy (HSLA) steel with a minimum yield strength of 550 megapascals (MPa).
Additionally, the vehicle gets tubeless and radial tyres for high speed and high load-carrying capacity, better stability and ensuring lower downtime. Available at a starting price of Rs 24.48 lakh which goes up to Rs 25.42 lakh (ex-showroom), the Furio 16 truck from Mahindra is a comprehensive solution for enhancing the business profitability of logistics.
Mahindra Furio 16 Performance
The Mahindra Furio 16 truck is powered by a 3.5-litre mDI Tech 4-cylinder Bharat Stage-VI compliant diesel engine. This engine is engineered to produce 138.12 hp at 2400 rpm and 525 Nm at around 1250-1800 rpm. The diesel engine is also mated to a 6-speed overdrive synchro manual-type transmission.
An overdrive synchro manual-type transmission refers to a manual transmission system that includes an overdrive gear and synchronisers for smoother gear shifting. Overdrive is an additional gear in the transmission that allows the engine to operate at lower rpm (revolutions per minute) while maintaining a higher vehicle speed. This can improve fuel efficiency by reducing engine strain at higher speeds.
A synchroniser is a component in the transmission that helps match the speed of the gear and the transmission input shaft during gear shifts. This synchronisation reduces gear clash and makes shifting smoother.
